Seteais and Chalet da Condessa (3.5 km)

 The route connects the center of the village of Sintra to the road that runs along the top of the Serra de Sintra.

 Start the tour in the churchyard of the Church of São Martinho de Sintra. Here you have a beautiful view over the valley of Ribeira de Colares, the ocean in the background. You can then visit the Tourist Office at the beginning of Rua Consiglieri Pedroso, and then follow this street in the south and then west direction. At the end, continue westwards through Rua Barbosa du Bocage, passing under Quinta da Regaleira and beginning to climb the road along the wall of this villa after passing through the monumental cork oak in front of Quinta do Relógio.

 Continue to climb the road, carefully, passing Quinta da Regaleira until you reach the Seteais Palace. Although barred, the front garden of this Palace is open to the people, always. Passing under the Arco Triunfal, to the north of the garden, you will get a beautiful view on the northern Sintra lowland, the sea in the background.

 Then go up by Azinhaga do Vale dos Anjos, which starts south of the garden. Continuing to climb, among the walls of the farms, you will end at Estrada da Pena. Then go up by the road, and at the intersection, continue along the Capuchos Road, towards the west. Less than a kilometer ahead, you will pass an entrance to the Parque da Pena, next to the Chalet of the Countess. This Chalet is well worth a visit (you will have to buy an entrance to the Park) and can be a variant on this tour: you can cross the Pena Park and then return to Sintra by the Castle or Santa Eufémia.

  But, if you want to cross the Serra de Sintra, then continue up the asphalt road, carefully, until you reach the west gate of the Parque da Pena, at km 7.5, where the road then turns southwest towards Capuchos.

Seteais e o Chalet da Condessa (3,5 km)

 O percurso faz a ligação do centro da Vila de Sintra até à estrada que percorre o alto da Serra de Sintra.

 Inicie o passeio no adro da Igreja de São Martinho de Sintra. Tem aqui uma bela vista sobre o vale da Ribeira de Colares, o oceano lá ao fundo. Pode depois visitar ainda o Posto de Turismo, no início da Rua Consiglieri Pedroso, e siga depois por esta rua no sentido sul e depois poente. No final, continue para poente pela Rua Barbosa du Bocage, passando sob a Quinta da Regaleira e começando a subir junto ao muro desta quinta quando passar pelo monumental sobreiro do Largo da Quinta do Relógio.

 Continue a subir a estrada, com cuidado, passando a Quinta da Regaleira até atingir o Palácio de Seteais. Embora gradeado, o jardim fronteiro deste Palácio está aberto ao povo, desde sempre. Passando sob o Arco Triunfal, a norte do jardim, obterá uma bela vista sobre a várzea saloia de Sintra, o mar em fundo.

 Suba depois pela Azinhaga do Vale dos Anjos, que se inicia a sul do jardim. Continuando sempre a subir, entre muros das quintas, acabará por desembocar na Estrada da Pena. Suba-a então até ao alto, e, no cruzamento, continue depois pela Estrada dos Capuchos, para poente. Menos de um quilómetro adiante, passará por uma entrada do Parque da Pena, junto ao Chalet da Condessa. Este Chalet vale bem uma visita (terá de adquirir uma entrada no Parque) e poderá servir de variante neste passeio: poderá daqui atravessar o Parque da Pena e depois voltar a Sintra pelo Castelo ou por Santa Eufémia.

 Mas, se pretende atravessar a Serra de Sintra, então continue a subir pela estrada asfaltada, com cuidado, até chegar ao portão poente do Parque da Pena, ao km 7.5, onde a estrada inflete então para sudoeste, rumo aos Capuchos.
